About Me
Hi, I’m Siân – Infant Massage, Tummy Time and Story Massage Instructor and founder of Bristol Baby Massage.
Since becoming a mum in 2019 and completing baby massage sessions with my son Teddy, I had the dream of becoming an instructor. I met some lovely parents who I remain close friends with and have learnt skills that I still use with Teddy to this day. I feel that baby massage is something that we have both benefited from and I want to share this experience with new parents.
I took a big leap after working with children and young people for over 10 years within the Local Authority and charity sector. I loved my job and advocating for vulnerable young people, but as a mother, I realised I wanted to support other parents. The community in South Bristol is wonderful and I feel very lucky to have been welcomed so warmly by parents and other local businesses.
I have found infant massage to be one of the easiest and most pleasant methods of providing early positive interaction through bonding, fun, trust and relief whilst incorporating nurturing touch, massage and reflexology.
The overwhelmingly positive response I received from this initial venture made we want to train further and so I decided on Tummy Time. Like a lot of parents, I found Tummy Time to be quite a challenging activity to do with my son. Personally I wanted to learn more about it, and if I could find another way to support parents then that seemed like a no-brainer!
I love being really informed on this subject and knowing how to make it a really fun and engaging activity for both baby and parent. My aim for this course is for parents to leave feeling confident; equipped with a toolkit of Tummy Time activities to have fun, bond and help with their babies reaching numerous milestones.
As my son has got older and is running head-first (sometimes literally) into toddler-hood, I found there was a gap in classes for older babies and young children. I trained in Story Massage in the hope of filling that gap and I’m so glad I did. Story Massage classes are a beautiful, gentle way of telling stories through simple massage strokes that can be adapted to words. Parents will learn the skills to be able to adapt stories using these massage strokes and children will learn another form of communication.
I can’t wait to share all of these with you.
